"Special praise must be offered to the visionary leaders of Sime Darby and FGV for agreeing to come together in a precompetitive partnership and work with MIGHT and our GSIAC experts for MBI through MYBiomass. It is expected to contribute substantial revenue to GNI from industrial chemical, product manufacturing and green chemical sectors and also create new high skilled jobs for Malaysians."
(Closing Remarks of 2nd GSIAC Meeting, 16 May 2012, New York, USA)

The Hon. Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak
Prime Minister of Malaysia
Chairman of GSIAC

"MYBiomass is a Private-Partnership model which is part of the Science to Action (S2A) initiative currently championed by Prime Minister Najib. The S2A is the initiative to intensify the application of science and technology for industry development, people' well-being and governance of science, technology and industry that aligns to the New Economic Model which was introduced in 2010. It plays a crucial role towards new gross national income creation from the industrial chemical, product manufacturing and green chemical sectors. This is done while addressing the best ways of working towards achieving a global green economy, poverty eradication and sustainable development."

Prof Emeritus
Dato' Sri Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid
The Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia / Joint-secretary of GSIAC

Our aspiration is to develop new green technology businesses and make Malaysia a regional green chemical hub by 2020. The government through the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has been very supportive from both the financial and non-financial aspects. Although this is very much a private sector-led initiative, the government’s role in creating a conducive environment and friendly knowledge ecosystem is crucial and critical. A pioneering effort in more ways than one!

Datuk Dr.Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman
Chairman, MYBiomass

As a long-time advocate of green technology, the creation of MYBiomass proves that this generation of local thinkers, corporate figures and politicians is serious about conserving our natural resources. Based on the potential green chemicals that can be derived from oil palm biomass, the plantations in this country will be able to archieve a significant added value as compared with the current scenario which is focusing only on crude palm oil.

R. Puvaneswari
CEO, MYBiomass
